I have an interesting question: if you want to go freelance, what's stopping you*? * aside from the healthcare stuff if you're US based

piccalilli_ Common patterns in responses: 1. Marketing yourself 2. Dealing with business stuff 3. Scheduling 4. Stability On those: 1. Reputation and portfolio do wonders 2. Contracts and good accountants 3. Get good at managing ur time 4. Getting a buffer is super helpful

piccalilli_ A lot of those are easier said that done—granted—but once you have a solid foundation, the freedom of freelancing is *priceless*. You gotta put the groundwork in, just like with anything else.

piccalilli_ Specifically on stability: a buffer—for me—is endlessly more stable than full-time work. Ur a notice period away from being in the shit when you’re full-time—pressing pause on being unemployed every month I think "job stability" is a hangover from boomer days tbh
