    1. I wrote a technical challenge for my clients who are hiring a web developer. It’s dead simple. All you gotta do is render a list of cards. I have seen some wild shit today from people wanting > £100k. Let’s just say folks are using a pneumatic drill to crack and egg…badly.

    Common themes: - No consideration of HTML semantics - Test suites?! - Very large, complex code bases - Blank screens when JS is disabled* * it was a remote data source but only a couple produced a solid default experience. Sites like this weekend’s drama are not a surprise.

      There were bear traps too, of course. It was a challenge (FEChallengeClub alumni will be all to aware of this stuff), but they missed a lot of them which were pretty basic. The traps the found: they tried to stop them snapping by applying masking tape with a gatlin gun…
